Summer Volunteers

July 13–19, 2014

The Summer Volunteers Conference is an opportunity for friends of Baptist Bible College & Seminary to enjoy our beautiful campus in northeastern Pennsylvania and to serve the school in a valuable way.

Summer is a crucial time for our Facilities Department, which must complete important projects around campus in preparation for the up-coming school year. While these dedicated workers do a tremendous job of managing campus facilities, limited time, finances, and personnel make it difficult to complete all routine maintenance and special projects in time for the fall semester. This is where you can help.

Each year our volunteers help with a number of key needs in our campus facilities which require professional skills. We are able to utilize the specialized skills of trained plumbers, electricians, carpenters, roofers, landscapers, painters, and others in projects requiring such expertise.

This summer, the Facilities team has two main projects to complete:

The first is rebuilding at least two of our residence halls' retaining block walls. This process will specifically involve the use of grading rakes, shovels, and wheel barrels. Work will include moving dirt, and lifting stone and blocks that have an individual weight of 80 lbs each.
The second project involves completing a five-step repair process on every exterior window of Jackson Hall. This includes scraping, glazing, caulking, priming, and painting. This project will require standing for long periods of time, climbing ladders or using a lift to reach high places.

We welcome skilled and non-skilled laborers to accomplish these goals.
