LADY DEFENDER BASKETBALL CAMP
July 8–13 (for girls Grades 8-12)
Coach Amber Jacobs took over the helm as the Women’s Head Basketball Coach at Baptist Bible College in 2010. Coach Jacobs brings both playing and coaching experience. As a player, Amber was an All-American at Boston College and went on to play in the WNBA. Coach Jacobs has also coached at the University of Toledo and the University of Rhode Island where she was an Assistant Coach for the women’s team at both institutions. In her first year, as the Lady Defender's Basketball Coach, she lead her team to their first CSAC playoff berth. Not only does Amber have a passion for basketball, but a passion for God. Coach Jacobs desires to use her talents to encourage her players to have that same excitement to grow closer to God.
MAKING IT HAPPEN
Instruction Time
Basic fundamentals are essential. Through individual and group instruction, these necessary skills will be taught and drilled through with personalized coaching. Developing these fundamentals at a high intensity will certainly help improve the player's skills and technique. Students from the same school and grade will work together.
3v3
First, an emphasis will be placed on drilling 3-man concepts. Then we want to implement what has been taught and practiced within 3v3 competition.
Team Competition
Team competition continues in the afternoon and evening with full-court games. Two leagues are used for differing ability levels. Players from the same school with similar abilities will be on the same team. Attending guest coaches will coach their players.
Time Out
Guest speakers and coaches in daily chapel will emphasize how basketball and godly living intertwine, and how we can honor our Lord and Savior through basketball.
Coaching Staff
Our staff consists of current and former members of the BBC Lady Defenders and coaches from attending schools.
