BBC&S Honors Military Chaplains
Baptist Bible College & Seminary hosted its second annual Chaplaincy Emphasis event on September 21. It was a celebration and commemoration of sacrifices made by chaplains in the various military branches. BBC&S held this event to promote awareness of both the severe need for chaplains in the armed forces and the opportunity for military chaplaincy training at Baptist Bible Seminary.
At 10 a.m., approximately 15 chaplains representing almost every branch of the military participated in a special chapel service in the Phelps Student Center. Several other veterans and reservists were also involved in the service. The event included a presentation of the colors by the Northeast Pennsylvania Army ROTC Color Guard. The Color Guard is comprised of local college and university ROTC students, most of which are enrolled at the University of Scranton. The BBC Wind Ensemble played “America the Beautiful” during the presentation.
At 11:00 a.m. following the service, a US Army Blackhawk helicopter landed on the BBC Quad. The Blackhawk was on the ground for about four hours and departed back to Fort Indiantown Gap around 3:00 p.m.
