Renovations make library more student-friendly

Baptist Bible College & Seminary's Murphy Memorial Library is nearly finished with several major renovations, creating a more functional and more appealing environment for students.

The library, located in Jackson Hall, will now contain several collaborative study tables. These tables will include built-in outlets for laptop computer use. They will provide students with a comfortable workspace that allows for social interaction, according to Library Director Joshua Michael.

The library will also feature a lounge area, offering students comfortable chairs for both pleasure reading and homework. Unlike previous years, students will now be encouraged to bring both snacks and beverages into the library.

More computers will be placed in the library, too, offering students not only a place to write papers but easy internet access as well.

Students will find that these changes create a fun and relaxed studying environment.

The library is aiming to feature group study rooms in the future. Students who need a meeting place for group projects, or just a secluded spot for effective study, will be able to reserve a private room.

The library staff hopes the changes will preserve the beauty of library, while also generating a more inviting atmosphere for BBC&S students.

The library renovations were made possible by the generosity of Mrs. Magdalene Dempsey of Virginia. Mrs. Dempsey is the daughter of BBC&S' first president and the library's namesake, Mr. Richard Murphy.
