Power of Partnership is focus for Global Ministry Conference
Exploring ways to partner with others in reaching communities with the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the focus of a special ministry event at BBC&S in February.
"Unleashed: The Power of Partnership" is the theme for the Global Ministry Conference, set for February 6 - 8. In preparation, a special Day of Prayer will be held February 5.
A schedule of events for the conference is here.
Concentrating on 2 Corinthians 6:1-18, morning sessions each day will address a section of the passage. The program features several guest speakers - including author and veteran missionary Gracia Burnham.
Partnering Globally
Workshops following the morning sessions will feature representatives from a variety of missions and organizations. The range of topics includes the importance of partnering with other believers, missionaries, ministries, and church organizations to make an impact on the world for Christ.
Special session speakers include:
Gracia Burnham, an author and speaker who served with her husband Martin in the Philippines for 17 years. A Muslim militant group kidnapped and held the Burnhams hostage for over a year. Martin was killed during their rescue. Garcia has written two books about her experience.
Pastor Ashok Andrews, of the Kolkata Christian Fellowship in Kolkata, India. He is the president of a church planting movement called Jatiyo Kristiyo Prochar Samity.
Dr. Harry Gebert, with Worldwide Islamic Ministries of the Association of Baptists for World Evangelism. Dr. Gebert and is wife, Jan, have worked in West Africa, North Africa, and the Middle East, planting churches and training church leaders.
Student interviews with recruiters from mission agencies and other organizations will be held in the Underground Cafe in the afternoon. A special time to meet missionaries in residence halls is set for each evening.
With a goal of representing a variety of ministries, the regional focus of the conference changes each year. The 2013 focus is on Third World and developing countries.
Day of Prayer
A Day of Prayer is held each semester. The spring semester time - Tuesday February 5 - will allow students, faculty, and staff to come together to focus and pray for needs at home and around the world.
The day off from classes gives the students a special time to fellowship, meet together for prayer, and encourage each other.
