Seminary Awards Chapel recognizes students

Students were honored for their hard work during a special Awards Chapel at BBS on April 27.

Nearly 40 Seminary students were honored with a total of $27,000 in scholarships and gifts.

The special event, held each spring, was attended by students, families, BBC&S faculty, and staff members.

BBC&SAaron Jeffery, a student in the Master of Divinity program, received the Howard & Carol Bixby Church Evangelism scholarship and the Lewis Vivian & Verna Clanton Graham Endowed Scholarship.

"This was a blessing, it was unexpected," Jeffery said. "God has been providing in a big way. It will be an amazing relief for my wife and me financially."

Scholarship money is set aside for students who meet specific criteria designated by donors. Academic achievement, student involvement, and financial need are also considered, with professors and department heads nominating individuals for each award.

"Awards Chapel is an encouragement to students," said Seminar Dean Dr. Mike Stallard. "Finances are so tight these days, it is essential to be able to help them out. Some students receive merit-based scholarships and for them it is a "pat on the back", a "well-done," because they need to be appreciated for their hard work."

Donors can make a difference, giving funds to student scholarships. Investments grow with the generations of lives impacted by the students and graduates of Baptist Bible Seminary.
