President's Golf Classic pushes event fundraising to nearly $625,000

President's Golf Classic
Friends, donors, and trustees of Baptist Bible College & Seminary came out to support students at the annual President's Golf Classic, raising the event's fundraising for student scholarships to almost $625,000 over the past five years.

Two dozen golfers participated in this special event held at Glen Oak Country Club in Waverly, PA. Golfers joined with 19 business sponsors in raising dollars for student scholarships. The money raised plays an important role in keeping higher education accessible. BBC&S cuts the cost of tuition by several thousand dollars each year through such fundraising efforts.

A special feature included in this year's event was a golf clinic led by Club PGA Pros Bob & Beth Sedlak.

"Glen Oak is a great golf course. The staff at the club did a great job, and the golf pros were awesome," said platinum business sponsor Dave Bailey of The Master's Group, Inc. from Union, MI.

Bailey was very impressed with the organization and quality of the event. "It was very well done," he said. "There is nothing I would have done differently."

A President's Breakfast at the club preceded the event and lunch was provided in the afternoon. After a full day of golfing a special celebratory dinner and awards presentation was held.

Awards given were:

First Place: Peter Fox, Gary Compton, Mike Paglioso, and Don Shirk
Second Place: Jim Lytle, Mark Montgomery, Ron Phelps, and Debra Smyk
Third Place: David Bailey, Phil Byars, Michael Miller, and Mike Show
Straightest Drive: Ron Phelps
Closest to the Pin: Michael Miller
Longest Drive: Tom Benefiel
