What are the requirements for admission to the M.Min. program?
The M.Min. program is built on a Bible college undergraduate degree.  As such, you should have a bachelors degree from a Bible college with at least 30 credits of Bible, theology, and/or Greek. In addition, you must have completed four years of full-time ministry as a pastor or missionary, and be currently involved in a full-time ministry role.

How many credits are needed to complete the M.Min. degree?
The program requires 33 credits to complete for graduation; 19 credits of required courses, and 14 credits of elective courses.  There are no biblical language course requirements (Greek, Hebrew) for the degree, although you may take language courses as electives.

How long does it usually take to complete the degree?
Since students in this program are involved in full-time ministry roles, most students take a “half-time” or “part-time” course load.  Although the program can be completed in one year by taking a “full-time” load (15 credit hours each semester, plus summer module), most students taking a “part-time” course load finish the program in two-three years. Academic advising and help with course selection is available through the Seminary registrar’s office.

What is the major focus of the M.Min. program?
The M.Min. program is designed as a continuing education degree for men who are already involved in full-time pastoral ministry.  As such, the program is designed to focus on sharpening the leadership skills of pastors and missionaries. The curriculum is designed to balance scholarship in biblical exposition and theology with practical, hands-on courses that relate to the leadership role and unique challenges facing men in a pastor/missionary in a ministry organization.

What is the M.Min. in Organizational Leadership, and how does it differ from the traditional M.Min. program?
The M.Min. in Organizational Leadership is a special concentration that focuses on leadership theory and concepts in ministry organizations.  It is offered in conjunction with PER (Pilgrimage Educational Resources).  It includes the same 19 credits of required courses, but incorporates the 14 elective credits as specific organizational leadership courses taught by PER staff.  Students who enroll for the entire program will engage in intense hands-on examination of leadership, and of theory and practice pertaining to a range of issues that are fundamental to the successful operation of organizations.  For most students, optimal interaction with this program of study happens within a focused internship equivalent in length to two academic semesters.  This laboratory setting allows students to learn the concepts and skills of leading organizational environments in an actual organizational environment mentored by people who are doing what the students are learning to do.  For more information on this program, contact Dr. Dennis Wilhite at dwilhite@bbc.edu.

In what formats are the M.Min. courses offered?  Is there flexibility in course scheduling?
Courses are offered in the following formats:

  • Once-a-week courses for fall and spring terms (many required courses offered on Mondays, a traditional “day off” for pastors)

  • One- and two-week concentrated modules (October, January, February, May through July).

  • One-week modules at our Ohio Extension site (Akron area) in October and February.

  • Over 26 courses offered via our Internet website.
  • These course formats offer the ultimate in flexible course scheduling for the busy pastor.  Academic advising and help with course selection is available through the Seminary registrar’s office.

Does BBS accept transfer credits from other seminaries or graduate schools?
BBS is accredited by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (3624 Market Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104, 267.284.5000).  In agreement with accepted standards of transfer credit policies, course credits with a minimum grade of C earned at acceptable, standard theological seminaries are accepted at full value if they fit the stated requirements of the program. Normally up to 49 percent of resident requirements will be accepted. It is important to note that all credit transfers must first be approved by BBS registrar, Dr. Lee Kliewer, before they show up on the student’s transcript.

How much do M.Min. courses cost at BBS?
The cost per M.Min. credit hour for the 2005-2006 school year is $328/credit with a $24/credit general fee. There are additional costs for books and class notes for each class.  Read more...
