Getting the most out of the Training Timothys Scholarship
The Training Timothys Scholarship matches a financial gift from your home church with money from Baptist Bible Seminary.
For Master of Ministry students, we’ll match up to $500 a semester when you take at least four credit hours.
For Master of Divinity students, we’ll match up to $1,000 a semester when you take at least nine credit hours.
This special program can be combined with the powerful Full-Time Scholarship to make your tuition cost a fraction of the sticker price.
Approaching your church to help you will take some work on your part. Here are some talking points:
Ways to get your church on board: Pray about how best to approach your pastor or church leader.
- Call or email him asking him for a 5- to 10-minute meeting. Treat him to coffee or doughnuts.
- Passionately explain your desire to prepare for full-time ministry at Baptist Bible Seminary.
- Explain the financial costs of theological training and your concerns about paying for seminary.
- Give your pastor materials for him to review. We can provide these to you. Suggest this is an excellent opportunity to alleviate the financial burden of seminary training.
- Ask your pastor if he will commit to reading the materials this week and mention you will contact him next week.
- The following week, call, email, or visit your pastor to follow-up on your initial meeting. Ask your pastor: “Would our church be able to assist me financially through the dollar-for-dollar matching Training Timothys Scholarship program?
- If yes, thank him profusely and remind him to complete the one page form in the back of the booklet we can provide to you.
- Rejoice together in God’s blessing through his partnership between your home church and you.
- Last but not least, be sure to apply to BBS. Apply online at www.bbc.edu/seminary.
