Training Timothys Scholarship

Training Timothys is a matching-tuition scholarship.

The Training Timothys Scholarship program is a matching fund scholarship program where BBS will match a financial gift from your church toward tuition costs each semester for up to six semesters. This is a significant savings. The student must be enrolled full time during the semester the Training Timothys Scholarship is awarded. Summer sessions are excluded.

The scholarship can bring the tuition for a master’s degree to less than $100 per credit hour.

The Training Timothys Scholarship requires the church provide a matching gift on the student's behalf to the Seminary or draw on a professional development fund set aside for this purpose.

Talking points
The Training Timothys Scholarship benefits you and your church.

For helpful hints on how to approach your church and other benefits, click here.

Independent evangelical churches have often left it completely to the student to solve the financial dilemma of seminary education. The reality that the costs of a seminary education have risen faster than the students’ earning abilities has compounded the difficulty of obtaining a seminary education. Employment to support a family (approximately 90% of today's seminary students are married) consumes much time and often leaves insufficient time for study and ministry preparation. Fewer men across America are completing seminary each year.

Ask for the Training Timothys brochure in the “additional comments” box on the Request Information page. Benefits to the student and church are carefully explained, as well as steps for local church participation.
