D.Min. Unique Program Features
One of the unique ingredients of D.Min. study at Baptist Bible Seminary is the learning contract utilized with each seminar or independent study. The learning contract is designed by the doctoral student with the assistance of the seminar instructor and approval of the director of doctoral studies. The learning contract becomes the blueprint for learning to be followed in applying the seminar content and in writing the seminar project. Students will be given instruction in the use of the learning contract during the new student colloquy at the start of his first course. A D.Min. student normally will have 16 weeks from the date of the learning contract for completion of the project. Time extensions may be requested in writing for more complex projects involving field testing.
Every Doctor of Ministry class has a single major assignment, the completion of the Learning Contract.
A personalized learning contract is designed for each course and guides the study following the one week on-campus module.
This contract is designed by the student and seminar instructor with mutually agreed upon outcome goals and procedures for the study.
The Learning Contract becomes the blueprint for applying the course content and in completing the post-seminar project.
The Learning Contract states what a student wants to learn and accomplish through the particular course he is taking.
The student has the opportunity to decide the focus of further development of the course materials and the work that is to be submitted for the class.
The Learning Contract is designed to be directly related to the student's ministry.
The student is accomplishing his ministry goals while at the same time completing the requirements for his D.Min. course.
