Evangelical Egalitarianism

In the last few decades, the rise of modern feminism has led to a debate over the role of women in evangelical (Bible-believing) local churches. Among evangelicals, two responses to these changes about women have emerged. One is evangelical egalitarianism, which asserts that there should be no role distinctions between men and women in the church of God. According to this view, women can serve as pastors in light of passages like Galatians 3:28.

The second response is what has come to be called the complementarian approach. This position is championed by The Council on Biblical Manhood and Womanhood (www.cbmw.org). It sees role distinctions between men and women in the family and in the church as designed by God. Men should serve as the shepherds of the church. Ohio Extension Courses
Convenient Ohio extension courses allow you to keep up on your current pastoral duties, attend seminary without moving your family, and grow personally and professionally. Extension courses are offered in easy-to-complete, concentrated one-week modules. Two-thirds of the M.Min. program at BBS may be taken at the extension site. The remaining 10 credit hours (5 courses) are available as two-week modules taught on the BBS campus in Pennsylvania. These courses are conveniently designed for the busy pastor or missionary.

Free Class for First-timers!

Revitalizing the Plateaued Church (PT803) is an opportunity to explore and learn practical biblical principles for lighting the spark of renewed vision in the traditional church. It is a four-day, one-credit course taught January 17-20, 2006, by Dr. Howard Bixby, Seminary Dean.

Current pastors and missionaries already engaged in full-time professional ministry who are taking their first course at BBS or are in their first semester are eligible for the free class.
