Rejoicing in and Reflecting on Life's Stages
Serving at BBC&S has been good for me, for my family, and for my ministry. We have all developed for God here.
I wanted to end my leadership tenure at BBC&S while it is strong and I am contributing strongly. (I do not want to be a lifetime .300 hitter who fades to .220 before moving on.)
The seminary has been developed to the place where it has a full compliment of programs that could enable it to go forward successfully long after my lifetime.
A team of godly and highly qualified personnel have been assembled, in whom I have a very high level of confidence as they move into the future.
Dr. Mike Stallard is ready to lead in my place and will bring new strengths to the task.
My heart is very supportive of the mission of BBC&S and its president. I have been asked to continue teaching modules at BBS, and I consider it a privilege to do so.
My professional life seems to have divided well into three major segments: 19 years pastoring in a church, 22 years of academic leadership and teaching pastors, and now a final phase of mentoring and advising pastors and churches on a personal basis as God allows.
I sense the Lord moving me to concentrate more intently on providing consultations, mentoring, and seminars for churches and their pastors. A more flexible schedule will allow this to happen. I will be ministering through the "ChristWay Ministries" organization.
II Timothy 2:1& 2 has always been my ministry life verse, and as far as I can judge, it will continue to be. By God's grace and enablement, I will be very blessed if I am able to multiply its application even more, perhaps extending its impact to my grandchildren as well.
You therefore, my son,
be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
And the things that you have
heard from me among many witnesses,
commit these to faithful men
who will be able to teach others also.
