McClain honored for four decades
Former Library Director David McClain marks 40 years of service to Baptist Bible College & Seminary this month. Colleagues and friends recently celebrated the occasion with an event in his honor.
Mr. McClain began working in the library on April 1, 1968, about one week after the purchase of the Clarks Summit campus. He has been the Library Director for more than 30 years. Josh Michael, the current director of the Murphy Memorial Library, was named to the position last year.
"It's been very interesting to have met people during my years and then to see their children come in as students and co-workers," Mr. McClain said. "It's like being part of a big family."
Major highlights of Mr. McClain's tenure include a drastic remodeling and expansion of the library, the absorption of the Instructional Materials Center and the completion of a fully digital library catalog.
Mr. McClain will be transitioning to a part-time position as the Cataloging Librarian. He hopes to use his newfound time to read, travel and finish a few outdoor projects on his home.
He can be reached at 570.585.9280 or dmcclain@bbc.edu. Click here for more information on Murphy Memorial Library.
