BBS plans tour of Middle East

Students and friends of Baptist Bible Seminary will have the opportunity to experience the Holy Land firsthand in early March.

Dr. Lee Kliewer will lead over 40 people on a 15-day excursion through several Bible lands throughout Egypt, Israel and Jordan. Sites visited will include several key locations from the biblical narrative, including Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Mt. Sinai and the Red Sea.

The trip, a partnership with Pilgrim Tours of Morgantown, PA, begins on March 6. Dr. Kliewer is planning on leading another tour in March 2009.

Dr. Kliewer, who has led four other trips to the Holy Land, will act as the tour host. The group will be paired with a certified tour guide who will provide information on many current and historical details.

The trip is the major portion of the Historical Geography independent study course at Baptist Bible Seminary.
“The depth of understanding that can come from actually experiencing the Holy Land is amazing,” said Dr. Kliewer. “It is truly eye-opening; you will never read the Scriptural accounts of these places the same way again.”

Understanding how the topography, climate and political geography affect and affected the daily life and culture is very important in understanding and interpreting the Bible.”

If you are interested in participating in this tour or if you have any questions, contact Lee Kliewer at lkliewer@bbc.edu or at 570.585.9390.
