Day Eight – 08.13.07

Dr. Pursley biked up U.S. 1 and got about 25 miles past Portland, Maine. Through a phone call with his wife, he determined getting suitable flight arrangements from Nova Scotia would be difficult. He then decided to set about ending the bike ride.

Day Seven - 08.12.07

Dr. Pursley crossed the Maine-New Hampshire border at noon. He ended the day about five miles from Portland. He expects to be in Nova Scotia later this week.

In a voice mail left at BBC, he said:

“If you’re over 30 and it doesn’t hurt, then something is wrong with you. So, I must be in good shape; I hurt everywhere.”

Day Four - 08.09.07

Dr. Pursley was able to stop at a Bed and Breakfast in Peterborough, NH, and send a quick email.

"I am traveling 12 to 15 hours per day. The question as to whether I will have time to go both ways has been answered; I won't have time before school starts. Two sponsors gave me t-shirts before I left. I had to leave the Brown's Tree Service shirt on the road with some skin attached after my first fall. I have had two close encounters with 18 wheelers, both of them survived! My Axtell's seal coating shirt is soil coated. I am thinking of writing a book entitled What Not To Do When You are Over 58, but I have a few things to add to it before I write it. I will try to write later. People have been great. I had a few repairs to do after my spill."

Day Two - 08.07.07

Dr. Pursley spent the night in New Paltz, NY. He then headed east toward Poughkeepsie, NY.

Day One - 08.06.2007

Dr. Pursley left the BBC parking lot at 9:10 a.m. He headed northeast toward New Paltz, NY.

Dr. Pursley spent the night in Monticello, NY. He felt great after riding over 100 miles. When riding by Elk Mountain in Union Dale, PA, he was amazed by its beauty.
