BBC Boot Camp

BBC Boot Camp

On Friday, March 9, Chaplain Dave Bowlus will be coming to Baptist Bible College to present “Ranger PT.” This event is designed for recruitment by presenting the new chaplaincy program through a physical training challenge. It also will provide fellowship for those in the chaplaincy program.

Former U.S. Army chaplain, James May IV, who now works in BBC’s Admissions Department, hopes this event will “encourage our students to continue to pray for the chaplains and soldiers.”

Seminary student and chaplain candidate Demetrius Walton sparked the idea for this event over a year ago. He began to pray about and plan the event with BBC personnel Dr. Don Holdridge, James May IV, and Chris Schwendeman, along with the local National Guard. Walton emphasizes that this is a “team event, but more importantly, it’s God’s event.”

All students are invited to participate in military training activities on the Quad, including a Humvee pull, litter carry, water jug relay, and more. They will take part in the different events as teams of six. According to Walton, these exercises are “a step above” normal training and will prove to be a challenge.

A free pizza dinner for participants will follow the activities in the Stowell Seminary Building.
