Missions Conference 2007

Missions ConferenceLift up your eyes and look on the fields, that they are white for harvest.”
John 4:35

“Lift Up Your Eyes” is the theme for Baptist Bible College’s 2007 Missions Conference, which is based on John 4:35. Missions professor John Jackson wants this campus “to see what God would have us do in service for Him around the globe.”

Jared Burkholder, president of Student Missions Fellowship, is excited about the many different ministries these missionaries represent from theological education to youth ministries. He is “praying that God’s Word will be the forefront of this conference, the tool to affect students’ lives in missions.”

New this year is a unique way for students to socialize with the missionaries. An ice scream social will be held on Wednesday evening to give students the opportunity for individual interaction with missionaries. Thursday night, missionaries will be in students’ dorms to share testimonies.

Dr. Hantz Bernard, Director of Bibles International; Marty Dittmar, Athletic Chaplain for Purdue University Sports; and Dr. Bill Smallman, Director of Global Training through Baptist Mid-Missions will be speaking during the morning sessions. Other main session speakers include Dr. Wendall Kempton, President Emeritus of Association of Baptists for World Evangelism, and Nathan Osborne, pastor of Faith Baptist Church of Winter Haven, Florida.

Dr. Cheryl Fawcett, youth ministry educator for Vision for Youth International/ABWE, will also speak during one of the main sessions to promote international youth ministries. She is a BBC alumna who travels to equip nationals to serve youth in their own cultures.

In addition to the main sessions, students will have the opportunity to attend workshops conducted by fifteen different missionaries. The themes of these workshops all center on lifting your eyes to see the harvest.

Bethesda Outreach is the 2007 Missions Conference project. The students’ goal is to raise $3,000 for the newest house for orphaned children in South Africa.

John Jackson reminds BBC students that Missions Conference 2007 is “an excellent time to get our ‘vision’ checked.” Lift Up Your Eyes!
