Girls Small Groups and Girls' Nite Out

Enjoy the JourneyBaptist Bible College will be offering special small group opportunities for girls this spring semester. This small group ministry is a continuation of J.B. Baughman’s work through her counseling internship with Baptist Bible College’s Graduate School. Beth Alt, a graduate student herself, took over the organization of this ministry this year. She used the feedback of girls previously involved with small groups to choose relevant issues and challenging leaders.

Associate Dean of Students Carol King will be conducting a Bible study discussing the needs of engaged girls. Dorm mom Sherry Boykin will discuss the power of prayer; other topics include Christ-like love and women in the Bible. Beth desires to keep the groups limited to eight per group to allow room for interaction.

Coinciding with these small groups is the regular ministry called “Girls’ Nite Out.” Speakers for this semester include Seminary professor Dr. James King, College professor Dr. Don McCall, College professor Dwight Peterson, and his wife Bonnie. All girls are welcome to meet in the Underground Café on selected Monday nights to discuss biblical topics and theological issues.

A prayer chain has been added to this ministry to challenge girls to prayer both individually and as a group for needs on the campus. Beth hopes these ministries will enable girls “to slow a fast-paced college life down for a few moments, to learn from God’s Word and each other, and to enjoy the abundant life He has given us.”
