BBC Sets Day Aside for Prayer
Each semester, BBC devotes a day entirely to prayer. As busy schedules are suspended, students are able to engage in quiet time with God. The theme for this year’s Day of Prayer, “One Accord,” was taken from Acts 1:14a: “These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication.”
The Day of Prayer was launched late Monday night, February 27, as the Student Leadership Council encouraged all students to attend a time of prayer and worship led by sophomores Jared Clark and Chris Casoni in the Rotunda.
Tuesday morning began with the opportunity for students to unite in prayer with members of their small groups. The staff and faculty also met for a time of prayer in the morning. Shortly thereafter, the student body assembled for a time of corporate worship in the Student Center. President Jeffery, aided by several faculty, instructed the student body on the principles of the Lord’s Prayer as found in Matthew 6:5-15 and engaged students in activities that correlated with the message.
Each student then had the opportunity to attend a “Prayer Shop.” These workshops were led by various faculty members and centered on issues such as singing and journaling prayers, praying through Scripture, the life-changing power of prayer, and the study of women and prayer in the Bible.
The day concluded in the evening with a worship time for women in the Student Center and faculty-led devotions in the dorm for the men.
