Sports camps wrap up summer season

Nearly 900 students and coaches participated in BBC sports camps this summer, a special time of learning, growth, and fun on campus.

Led by qualified coaches and leaders, August included Defender Soccer Camp for high school students and Big Blue Soccer Camp for children through eighth grade. The two weeks of camps wrapped up a successful summer season on campus.

Soccer instruction was led by BBC Women's Head Coach Chris Davis and Men's Head Coach Sean MacPherson. A highlight of Big Blue soccer was the participation of 25 young players from Loja, Ecuador. The special guests were invited to attend by Coach Davis, who helped initiate and organize the group's trip to America.

The players, ages 9 to 11, enjoyed spending the week training and learning on campus alongside other young players from the surrounding area. They also had opportunities to play friendly games against teams in the Abington Travel Soccer League and take part in the Hershey Cup soccer tournament in Hershey, PA.

Defender Soccer Camp helps students become better soccer players in both technique and tactics, prepares them for their seasons, and to honor Christ in all they do both on and off the field.

Big Blue Soccer Camp prepared students for their youth soccer teams. A variety of drills, modified games, and fun activities were taught and demonstrated.

"I like the training and that there are a lot of opportunities to play throughout the day," said Kat Dearstyne, and 11th grader from Haynesport, NJ. "It's a full day of soccer."

Full Summer, Fall Sports
Earlier this summer, Defender, Lady Defender, and Big Blue basketball camps filled campus.

Lady Defender Basketball was led by Women's Head Coach and Assistant Athletic Director Amber Jacobs. Defender Basketball was led by Men's Head Coach and Athletic Director Mike Show.
