Golf Classic adds to student scholarships
The tradition of raising funds for BBC&S scholarships through play at a championship-caliber golf course continued on May 19, with a record $72,000 raised for students.
The May golf event has been held annually in Northeastern Pennsylvania since 2005. A total of 100 golfers and 30 sponsors participated in this year's event.

"We appreciate all those who participated," said Don Patten, BBC&S Vice President for Institutional Advancement. "The weather was great, the links were full of golfers, and we raised a record amount for our student scholarship fund. A special thanks, as well, to all of our sponsors who made the day possible."
The 2015 BBC Golf Classic will be May 18, 2015. The special 10th anniversary tournament will offer expanded opportunities for participation and new features. It will again be at Glen Oak Country Club in Waverly, PA, minutes from the BBC&S campus. Opened in 1953, the course was designed by James Harrison under the training of Donald Ross, a highly regarded golf course architect. It features five tees at each hole.
Golf Classic prize winners included:
Men's Championship Team: 60 (Scott Salvigsen, Stan Salvigsen, Justin Tressler, and Rob Norris)
Men's Second Place Team: 61 (Bob Allen, Jon Konzelman, Joel Nietz, and Jack Zabawa)

Golfers and sponsors appreciated the opportunity to both enjoy the day and assist students in paying for their education at BBC&S. Lead sponsor for the event was Lindsey Equipment.
"Our company appreciates the influence BBC has in training people to have a biblical impact on their culture," said Barry Kilmer of Lindsey Equipment in Port Crane, NY. "To be involved in an event that helps students attend a college like BBC is very rewarding."
Other top-level sponsors included Wayne Bank, Datapipe, Pepsi Cola Bottling Co. of Scranton, Pioneer College Caterers, Master Spas, Sovereign Insurance Group, Global Risk Management, One Source Benefits Solutions, and FASTSIGNS.
"We are grateful to give back to a truly outstanding organization and cause," said Gil J. Murray, President and CEO of Global Risk Management. "I look forward to continued service on the golf event committee and to another successful event next year."
