RiSE set to tour, serve this summer
RiSE, a BBC traveling worship team, has a full schedule of events and concerts set for the summer, ministering to churches, Christian schools, and camps.
Two teams will be traveling over the summer. Throughout May, a main team of nine members will be traveling on a tour of Christian schools in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania.
In June and July, the main team will travel to churches and camps in New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Washington, DC. A second "mini-team" of five members will be traveling to camps and churches in New York, Ohio, and Pennsylvania.

Making an Impact
RiSE has many opportunities to minister to people at a variety of levels. Leading worship for large groups and offering concerts and ministry through music is just one level. Additionally, team members share their testimonies and lead Bible studies with small groups and serve as counselors and youth leaders at camps.
The impact on the team members is another important aspect of the summer experience. Team members, gaining exposure to different people, settings, and cultures, experience God working through them to impact the lives of others.
"This is a huge eye opener - getting outside normal life, meeting new people every day, and seeing God work through them," said Geoff Ellsworth, a BBC Admissions Representative and Director of Rise. "Most students haven't been part of something like this outside their own church. Traveling and seeing the world through a broader lens, it's humbling and it's revealing to see the world is bigger than what they have seen so far in their lives."
With a heavy schedule of events throughout the tour, team members are always on the move, sometimes performing and ministering at two locations in a day.
The main team members are:
BJ Greathouse; Batavia, NY
Andrew Henzler; Managua, Nicaragua
Erika Longwell; North Tonawanda, NY
Kevin Lorow; Wilkes-Barre, PA
Keegan Pulz; Vestal, NY
Ryan Shim; Beijing, China
Katherine White; Staten Island, NY
Jared Winn; Montrose, PA
Tyler Wright; Steamburg, NY
The members of the "mini-team" are:
Connor Ellsworth; Clarks Summit, PA
Allyson Kochanek; Winston Salem, NC
Rachel Mowers; Cape Town, South Africa
Kyle Sparkes; Ontario, Canada
Sarah Walker; Scranton, PA
RiSE members applied and auditioned for the opportunity. Geoff Ellsworth spearheaded the worship team in 2010 and provides musical instruction and leadership.
The name RiSE comes from John 3:30, "He must increase, but I must decrease" and encompasses the team's purpose: To see Jesus' name lifted higher to rise above all other names.
The team travels throughout the academic year, ministering in a variety of venues through music. Members build relationships with people and create interest among future students showing them how BBC can provide opportunities for leadership, hands on experience, and personal development.
