Special Award Chapel recognizes students, donors

Hard work by students was rewarded through the generosity of donors during a special Awards Chapel held April 25 in the Recreation Center on campus.

BBC&SA total of $136,625 was distributed to 130 students during the program.

Donors were invited to be part of the celebration by attending the chapel and meeting with student recipients.

"We appreciate what BBC meant for our two daughters," said Kenneth Peterson of Goshen, IN. "We appreciate the emphasis on ministry. We have seen BBC graduates all across the country and on missions trips actively serving the Lord."

Investing in Lives
For many scholarships, specific criteria designated by the individual donors and groups must be met.

Students are encouraged to apply for scholarships and are nominated for awards by professors and department heads. In some cases they are required to write an essay or submit a letter of reference from their pastor.

"This is another step to financial freedom after graduation, more freedom to do ministry," said Anthony Myers, a sophomore Missions major from St. Thomas, PA.

A financial aid committee reviews the nominees, giving special consideration to those who display academic achievement, student involvement, and financial need.

Among annual gifts are donations and proceeds from the LYFE Women's Conference, held each summer on the campus of BBC&S. The conference raises funds to assist female students with a commitment to full-time ministry.
