BBC hosting speed and agility seminar
Jody Leach, a leading strength coach, personal trainer, and human performance specialist, will be the featured speaker at a special educational clinic next month at BBC.
"Speed and Agility" is the focus of the Wednesday, April 9 program in BBC's new Recreation Center on campus. The 90-minute seminar begins at 6:30 p.m.
The program will cover scientific principles used when developing speed and agility workouts and methods of adding speed and agility training into specific sports workouts. Those in attendance will observe live drills and teaching techniques used in successful speed and agility programs.
There is no charge to attend the event. Advance registration is requested and available online at www.bbc.edu/sportsseminar.
The seminar will be of particular interest to area high school, college, and travel-team athletic trainers, coaches, athletes, and parents, as well as health professionals and local runners.
A former professional bodybuilder, Ms. Leach is a certified strength and conditioning specialist, master personal trainer, sports nutrition consultant, and youth fitness instructor. She has excelled in the area of youth programming and the development of high school and collegiate athletes. She has also served as Strength and Conditioning Coach for multiple sports at Binghamton University.
Ms. Leach is currently Director of Sports Performance at Excel at Backcourt Hoops in Scranton. Her main focus at Excel is sport-specific training for area student-athletes. In this role, she works with each athlete on motivation and developing specialized tools to achieve their maximum athletic potential.
The clinic is sponsored by the Sports Ministries and Sports & Health Science programs at BBC and the Department of Institutional Advancement.
