Campus leaders prepare for new semester
Campus leaders spent time preparing for the new fall semester during Leadership Week, a series of special training and activity sessions that began August 17.
Leadership Week brings student leaders and others together to focus on creating a superior and impactful student experience at BBC.
Members of student residence hall leadership and Student Leadership Council arrived a full week ahead of new and returning on-campus students. Groups gathered for prayer times, team building activities, and training sessions.
Preparing for Students
Resident Directors and Resident Assistants play an important part in the development of student community on campus. Sessions and workshops helped RAs and other student leaders build skills, form and strengthen relationships, and gain valuable information.
Several team-building activities - from dorm prepping and swimming to baking and fellowship - gave RDs and RAs the opportunity to get to know one another better and have fun. The focus for the week's training was "Love God, love neighbors."
"We are having a lot of fun and having some great interaction as we prepare for the new students," said Faye Moore, Associate Dean of Students. "It's all about mentoring and discipleship, our goal in (the Office for Student Development) is transformation of heart. We are working with the RAs and RDs to challenge them to challenge students."

Planning a Year
Members of the Student Leadership Council also spent focused time preparing and planning for activities for the upcoming semester. Sessions on being a servant leader, finding a purpose, and forming expectations were part of the group's week. The team also spent time in prayer ahead of the Friday, August 23 arrival of new students.
"This week had been helpful because I have had a chance to get to now who I am working with," said Joanna Ferbrache, the SLC secretary. "Everything is new for me. It has been really cool to see how the semester is going to progress."
