Soccer weeks wrap up summer sports camps

Nearly 800 students participated in BBC sports camps on campus this summer, a special time of learning, growth, and fun.

Led by qualified coaches and leaders, August included Defender Soccer Camp for high school students and Big Blue Soccer Camp for children through eighth grade. The two weeks of camps wrapped up a successful summer season on campus.

BBC&SSoccer instruction was led by BBC Women's Head Coach Chris Davis and Men's Head Coach Sean MacPherson.

"It was great interacting with the players on such character traits as sportsmanship, discipline, competitiveness, enthusiasm, and accountability," Coach Davis said. "Many greatly improved their soccer knowledge and skills while gaining conditioning for their upcoming soccer season."

Defender Soccer Camp helps students become better soccer players in both technique and tactics, prepares them for their seasons, and to honor Christ in all they do both on and off the field.

Big Blue Soccer Camp prepared students for their youth soccer teams. A variety of drills, modified games, and fun activities were taught and demonstrated.

"Many parents bring their kids to camp reminding me that they attended Big Blue themselves years ago," Coach Davis said. "It's fun developing another generation of youth soccer players in the Abingtons."

Full summer, fall sports
Earlier this summer, Defender, Lady Defender, and Big Blue basketball camps filled campus.

Lady Defender Basketball was led by Women's Head Coach and Assistant Athletic Director Amber Jacobs. Defender Basketball was led by Men's Head Coach and Athletic Director Mike Show.
