BBC&S is host venue for local benefit race

A two-mile run/walk around the BBC&S campus is set to raise funds in honor of a local high school student killed in a April 2010 auto accident.

The fourth annual Kristyn E. Kromko Memorial Scholarship Race is Saturday, July 12, at 9 a.m., on campus. The first three events in 2011, 2012, and 2013 were also held at BBC&S. Organizers worked with BBC Director of Athletics Mike Show to schedule the event.

The scholarship fund was established by the Kromko family and benefits graduating seniors from nearby Abington Heights High School.

Kristyn would have been a member of the 2012 senior class at Abington Heights. She was 16 when her car crashed on Route 307 in Newton Township. Her 21st birthday would have been July 25.

Registration begins at 7 a.m. The entrance fee is $15. Details are online at To learn more, call Ruth Mancuso at 315.877.5575 or 570.836.7795, or Rob Ahrens at 570.586.1620.
