Kris Schill: Bringing Details Together
Kris Schill's bright smile and laughter is a fixture at BBC&S campus. As the Campus Visitor Coordinator, she assists and welcomes prospective students and parents. As Resident Director in Vibbard Hall, she is a mentor and coach to dozens.
An Elementary Education major at BBC (94), Kris was a self-described social butterfly, taking a leadership role as president in Barndollar Hall. Her education led her to a first career as an educator for nearly two decades.
I taught for 18 years at the elementary school level. From a young age, I knew God wanted me to be a teacher. I served in Christian schools, including Naples Christian Academy in Florida and Bethel Baptist Christian School and Baptist Regional School in New Jersey. I mainly taught third and fourth grades, with the last four years also teaching music. Aside from teaching, I also coached basketball.
I've had many opportunities to share the gospel with women through skin care. I own my own Mary Kay business. I started wondering how God could use me in a different way. It was then that God started redirecting my life and I became open to ministering to women.
My life was taking a new direction. God had given me a passion for leading women who wanted to serve God with their lives. The opportunity opened up at BBC to serve as a Resident Director. In July 2012, I came back.
My girls are so important to me. I love having the opportunity to build relationships throughout the dorm. Whether it's baking for them or using scripture to navigate them through difficult circumstances, I love making connections. I'm thankful for everything I have gone through in my life because it all prepared me for this position. I have learned the importance of daily Bible reading and allowing that to impact my everyday life.
I host a weekly Bible study on the women in the Bible. God has given me a passion to reach out to the young ladies on campus through this. I'm thankful for opportunities to serve God in this way.
It's the little things that matter. I love when students come into my office and talk to me. Being the Campus Visit Coordinator allows me build relationships current students as well as communicate with potential students to ensure they have a great experience visiting. I plan visits based on the prospective student's interests and work to connect them with professors so they can catch the heartbeat of BBC. We want to put our best effort in and show all we have to offer every student.
I enjoy traveling. I have cruised to the Bahamas, Belize, the Cayman Islands, Cozumel and Honduras. I have also had amazing opportunities to participate on international missions trips to Romania, Panama, and Portugal. I love pointing people to Christ wherever I go.
