Volunteers lend hand on campus projects, second week ahead
Painting in the first floor of the Murphy Memorial Library, as well as painting and cleaning in Vibbard and Thomson Halls, are among the service projects completed during BBC&S' first Volunteers Week of the summer.
The labor is a huge blessing to the campus community and the BBC&S Maintenance Department, as well as to the workers themselves.
"We really enjoy the Christian fellowship and serving the Lord," said Robert Graf, a retired draftsman from Fleetwood, PA, who has participated in these special weeks for the past 14 years. "You can't beat this campus; it's like Eden. You can get away from the world and into a Christian atmosphere where we all have that common denominator in Christ. "
Each year, volunteers perform a range of jobs - from painting and cleaning to electrical work and plumbing. Workers and their families gain an inexpensive time together and hear from special speakers. The campus gains updates and improvements.
The first 2012 week ran June 17-23. A second Volunteers Week is set for July 8-14. Details are online at www.bbc.edu/volunteers.
The cost of Volunteers Week is just $15 per person for the week. Children under 6 years old are free. The minimal cost includes all meals, housing, and activities.
