GARBC Conference coming to BBC&S

"Authentic Church" is the theme for the 2012 General Association of Regular Baptist Churches Conference, an event set to draw several hundred attendees from across the country to the BBC&S campus.

The conference, held from June 25 to 29, includes special speakers, workshops, receptions, a family picnic, activities for youth, and formal business for the national fellowship of churches. It is the first time BBC&S has hosted the event.

BBC&SThe focus is taken from I Timothy, with the theme drawing people toward being the authentic church that God desires. In his first letter to Timothy, the apostle Paul counseled him on elements of ministry and with instructions on organizing the church.

The GARBC is a fellowship of more than 1,200 churches across the country. Its ministries include
Regular Baptist Press, international partnerships, Baptist Builders Club, the GARBC Chaplaincy Ministries, and Talents For Christ.

A special reception hosted by BBC&S President Jim Jeffery will be held in the Phelps Student Center on Wednesday, June 27 at 8:45 p.m.

Special Speakers, Events
The conference opens Monday afternoon, June 25. Activities and sessions continue through Friday morning, with Thursday afternoon open for free time and visits to local area attractions.

Speakers include:
- John Greening, National Representative of the GARBC and Chairman of the BBC&S Board of Trustees
- Will Hatfield, Pastor of Campus Baptist Church in Ames, IA
- Jim Jeffery, President of BBC&S
- Jim Lytle, Vice President and Provost of BBC&S
- Patrick Odle, Pastor of First Baptist Church, Elyria, OH
- Steve Olsen, Pastor of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Smithville, OH
- Bill Park, Veteran pastor and adjunct professor at Calvary Baptist Seminary in Lansdale, PA

Wednesday, June 20 has been set aside as a Day of Prayer for the event. The desire of organizers is to circle the conference in prayer and truly commit the week to Jesus Christ.
