Tree lighting begins Christmas season events

Traditions were renewed at BBC&S with the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony, held on November 29 to kick off the holiday season on campus.

BBC&S
The Christmas tree that stands by the stairwell near the Jackson Hall Rotunda is a nine-foot Douglas fir from Roba Family Farms in Dalton, PA. It was picked out and brought to campus by Wayne Stevens, Director of Facilities Administration. The tree's adornment was added by Ross Janowski, Chad McCall, and Tina Lysak, members of the campus facilities team.

BBC&S
BBC&S President Jim Jeffery and his wife, Bert, who have been hosting the annual Christmas event for a decade, led the time of celebration. It included carol singing, reading of the Christmas story, and refreshments for all those in attendance.

Special Decorations
The tree, decorated with pinecones, gold ribbon, and gold ornaments, stands near banners that carry the BBC&S "go beyond" theme, accentuating the colors of the tree and evergreen decorations.

Christmas decor has been added to many areas on campus, including lightposts and windows, with lights, evergreens, and festive colors throughout. Offices and hallways are decorated with trees, lights, ribbons, and garland to spruce up buildings for the season.

Special Concert
Upcoming Christmas events include special Winter Concerts on December 9 and 10. The BBC Music Department will present three concerts - one on Friday and two Saturday - featuring music that highlights the Christmas celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ.

The concerts include performances by the Chamber Singers, Concert Chorale, One Accord, and others.
