Student leaders, staff preparing for new semester

A week of preparing, development, and fellowship are ahead of the start of fall classes for many students and staff at BBC.

Those involved in leadership roles on campus take part in a special week-long training event designed to encourage personal growth, grow healthy relationships, and create an enhanced on campus experience for students.

The special week, August 15 - 19, features training and classes for Residence Hall staff members and students leaders, including Resident Assistants, dorm leaders, and Student Leadership Council members.

Under the advisement of Jonathan Strayer, Director of Student Activities, Student Leadership Council plays an important and influential role in many student organizations. Members of the council are elected by their peers to represent the student body.
Through its leadership, SLC provides opportunities for spiritual, social and academic growth.

Members of the 2011-2012 team include:

Cynthia Nichols (junior) of Cleveland, OH - Executive Rep.
John Dobson (senior) of Bellevue, OH - Treasurer
Tim Walker (senior) of Romulus, MI - President
Julie Herr (junior) of Lancaster, PA - Secretary
Jeff Butler (junior) of Emlenton, PA - Vice-President

Getting involved, making a difference
Along with training and presentations, participants also get to know new members of campus leadership, enjoy opportunities for fellowship, and spend time in prayer together.

The events conclude with a Presidential Dinner for all involved on Friday evening.

New students arrive for Welcome Weekend August 19 - 21. New and returning students begin classes on Monday, August 22.

Student involvement in organizations like SLC and other service opportunities are a vital part of life on the BBC Campus.

New students along with SLC members and other student leaders will also take part in a unique service project on August 25 as they join other local community members in rebuilding a playground area.

A goal of the project at the Waverly Community House in nearby Waverly, PA is to have the play area completed in one week.
