Young leaders equipped, focused during two powerful conference weeks
The last two weeks of July saw close to 900 teens and youth leaders fill the BBC campus for Teen Leadership Conferences, a powerful time of equipping young leaders for impact. Teens, youth workers, and youth pastors came together to learn and grow in their Christian faith and were encouraged through fellowship and fun.
The 2011 conferences marked the 43rd year for the event, a testimony to the power it has had in the lives of the many young people who have attended over the years.
The 2012 conference will be July 23 - 28 and July 30 - August 4. Details will be posted later at www.bbc.edu/tlc.

Through main sessions with enthusiastic speakers like Andy Giessman, Errol Morgan, Dwight Peterson, Tony Tice, Don Jackson, Mike Show, and Jeff Stimpson, students learned about how to become effective ministers for Christ.
"I am hoping students will understand that God has them on this earth for a purpose," said Jeff, Lead Pastor at Whitehaven Road Baptist Church in Grand Island, NY. "My prayer is that students will walk away from TLC understanding how big God is, how great He is, understanding more about how He loves them and what He has done for them."
Workshops on topics including purity, change, servant hood, peacemaking, leadership, compromise, and prayer encouraged students to become influencers in their churches, schools, and communities.
The topics helped students like Carrin Zirkle of Sandusky, OH.
"I like how all the messages come together to teach us about giving up selfish things," said Carrin. "I think that's going to make a lasting impact on my life after I leave."
TLC was also a great encouragement to Jack Lightbody of Grosse Point, MI.
"It has been exciting. God has been encouraging to me live out my faith in my public school," he said. "I am definitely going to try to lead my example."
Students who attended are encouraged to share what TLC has meant for them. To share a story, or read stories from others, click here.
Attendance was up, too, at BBC's second annual Boot Camp: Basic Training for Junior Highers. The event was held on campus in early July and brought nearly 70 seventh- and eighth-grade students and youth leaders to campus to learn more about God, salvation, sin, and how to make a difference.
Next year's conference will be held July 16 - 20, 2012. Details will be posted later at www.bbc.edu/bootcamp.
