Basketball camps wrap up, soccer ahead
Three weeks of Big Blue and Defender basketball camps have wrapped up, bringing nearly 450 teens and youth to the BBC&S campus.
Sports camps continue later in the summer, with Big Blue Soccer and Defender/Lady Defender Soccer beginning July 31.
The final week of basketball brought together two former teammates - BBC Coach Amber Jacobs and Nicole Ohlde - to instruct and lead during Lady Defender basketball camp. The two played together for four years while both were members of the WNBA's Minnesota Lynx.
Held every summer, Big Blue and Defender camps provide children and teens from kindergarten to grade 12 with a unique learning experience.

"The three-on-three and five-on-five competitions were fun and you also learned a lot," said Elizabeth Bamford of Clarks Summit. "And you get the different coaches' perspectives."
The camps continue a tradition of growing future leaders on and off the court. The weeklong intensive training helps players build physical skills as well as character.
"We challenge campers as to where their heart is on the court," said Coach Jacobs. "Am I being a good teammate, a good leader? Am I thinking about myself or my team?"
"It's a been a great week, a week of having an impact on the court, with the basketball skills, but also off the court - challenging them in their walk with the Lord."
Soccer kicks off soon
Defender Soccer Camp for students in grades 9-12, will be held July 31-August 5.
