Student scholarships focus of special Michigan golf event

A special September event in Michigan provides golfers an opportunity to mix raising money for student scholarships at BBC&S with a championship-caliber course.

Baptist Bible College & Seminary The Michigan President's Golf Classic in Grand Rapids, MI, together with the President's Golf Classic held annually in Northeastern Pennsylvania, have together raised more than $800,000 for scholarships since 2005.

The Michigan President's Golf Classic event is Monday, September 12, at Thousand Oaks Golf Club. Registration and other details are online at

The event features special speaker Frank Tanana, a Detroit native whose major league baseball career spanned 21 seasons. A Christian who enjoys sharing his faith and experiences, Tanana's eight seasons with the Tigers included pitching Detroit to a 1-0, division-clinching win over the Toronto Blue Jays on the last day of the 1987 season.

Golfers connect with local business sponsors to raise funds for student scholarships. The events are special opportunities for friends of BBC&S to be involved in the work of equipping students for global Christian leadership.
