LYFE conferences draw nearly 1,000, focus shifts to 2012
The 29th annual LYFE Women's Conferences at BBC offered those attending a time of spiritual refreshment, personal growth, and fellowship, with the two weekend conferences drawing nearly 1,000 women to campus.
Carrying the theme "Imagine," each weekend featured three "LYFE Hours" with Joanna Arp, over a dozen workshops to equip and encourage women, and great performances by guest speaker and comedian Martha Bolton and Master Illusionist Harris III.

The 2012 LYFE Women's Conference, themed "Impressions," will be held June 7-9. Details will be available at www.bbc.edu/lyfe later this year.
LYFE Hour speaker will be best-selling author Liz Curtis Higgs. She will be joined by recording artist Dàmaris Carbaugh and 3-2-1 Improv Comedy.
Making an impact
LYFE, which stands for Living Your Faith Everyday, is led by LYFE Director Diane Lytle. She is joined by a planning team that meets frequently throughout the year.
"When we started planning "Imagine" for LYFE 2011, we dreamed of the great things God would do in ladies' lives," Diane said. "He abundantly answered our prayers. He brought 940 ladies to our campus for a time of encouragement and equipping to live a life of faith every day. Throughout both weekends, ladies stopped our staff to tell us how much they were learning about living 'outside the box' for God."
The weekend retreat helps many in attendance refocus and become encouraged and challenged as they return to their homes, families, and ministries.
"LYFE is great because it makes you go back to the basics. It's very motivating spiritually," said Michelle Yakubowski of Freeland, PA.
"You learn to apply what you have learned to your life. It helps you realize things are a lot easier than what we make them in our day-to-day lives. It's very grounding."
Through profits from the LYFE store and other gifts, attendees help raise money for the LYFE scholarship fund and build into the lives of BBC students. Scholarship funds raised at the 2010 conference were awarded to 15 students in April.
"The unique part of the LYFE scholarship criteria is that we give these scholarships to women students that have to pay their own way through school for some reason," Diane said. "Sometimes it is just a really tough financial situation; other times their parents are not believers and will not support them."
