Students building leadership skills globally

China, Romania, South Africa, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic are among the locations BBC&S students will be serving this summer.

Students will be working with sports camps, teaching English as a second language, and serving in medical clinics and orphanages. They will be learning with missionaries and church members.

Summer break provides several opportunities for students to gain useful, hands-on global Christian leadership skills through missions, camps, and internships.

With the education received and the extended break from classes, students are able to serve across the country and around the world. By the end of the summer, about three dozen students will have participated in overseas missions through BBC&S.

Serving cross-culturally
Associate Professor John Jackson will lead a group of eight BBC&S students, as well as others from Faith Baptist Bible College, to South Africa in May. They will be working with Central Baptist Church in Pretoria, Bethesda Outreach orphanage in Hamanskraal, and First Baptist Church in Kokstad.

Members of the Defenders softball team will be traveling to the Dominican Republic in early June with Associate Professor and Coach Dr. Bill Higley and his wife, Susan. The team is partnering with Score International and will assist in villages, with softball clinics, and in outreach to young women.BBC&S

Additionally, two members of the Defenders men's soccer team will be serving with Tim and Barbara-Lee Glessner in Puebla, Mexico in June. They will be helping with a medical clinic and sports ministry.

Three students will be traveling to China to teach English as a Second Language in July. And in August, five students will be serving with David and Felicia Lee in Bucharest, Romania, assisting with children's camp ministry.

Missions at BBC&S
Over spring break, six students traveled to Berlin, Germany to assist CrossWay International Baptist Church. They were involved with the youth group, Sunday school, and AWANA. The team also traveled to Vilseck, Germany, to serve with missionaries and BBC alumni Duane and Daylin Beach in maintenance and child care.

Many other students will be serving in the U.S. this summer, working at camps, churches, and with other organizations across the country.
