Defender teams set for spring seasons

Four BBC Defenders teams are gearing up for full schedules this spring, with men's teams in tennis, golf, and baseball joined by women's softball.

BBC is affiliated with the Colonial States Athletic Conference, NCAA Division III, and the National Christian College Athletic Association. A rich athletic history at BBC includes 23 NCCAA national championships in six sports and appearances in six NCAA national tournaments.

Defender Golf
The men's golf season opens Saturday, April 2 at Penn State University - Harrisburg. It is the first of six matches for the spring season. The team loses three graduating seniors but looks forward to a time for training underclassmen.

Defender Baseball
BBC's 16-player team opened its season February 26 and has a rigorous schedule ahead. The team is working hard under new coach, Tony DeSanto. The program hopes to see more wins this season as the team grows.

Defender Tennis
After finishing in fourth place last year in the Colonial State Athletic Conference, the men's tennis team returns almost all of its starters. The season opener is Wednesday, March 23 at Lancaster Bible College. Coach Adam Schwamb is returning for his second season as head coach.

Lady Defender Softball
The softball team starts its season Tuesday, March 8 at Penn State University - Abington. Throughout the season, the team will play a heavy 25-game schedule. Last year the team made the CSAC playoffs and this season they hope to go farther. The team will be traveling to Myrtle Beach, SC for tournament play over Spring Break, with Coach Bill Higley entering his tenth season.

Throughout the year, the Defenders compete in men's and women's cross country, basketball, soccer, and tennis. Defender teams also compete in men's baseball and golf, and women's softball and volleyball.
