Unique camp provides spiritual training, growth for junior highers

Building a strong foundation for future growth into Christian leaders is the focus of a special summer camp at BBC for seventh- and eighth-grade students.

"Boot Camp: Basic Training for Junior Highers" is an opportunity for students to develop the skills they need for leadership in their high school and college years. It is a week students will never forget.

The camp is July 11-15. It is open to students entering seventh and eighth grades and their youth workers.

Answering Life's Questions
Each day is committed to answering four big questions teens are facing today:
- How do I know God loves me?
- How do I know I'm saved?
- What do I do when I sin?
- Can I make a difference?

"The purpose of Boot Camp is to help each junior higher think through four foundational spiritual questions as well as learn basic skills for personal spiritual growth," said Dwight Peterson, a veteran youth worker, coach, BBC assistant professor, and Boot Camp director.

"Each day we will commit to not only provide campers with the tools to be able to answer those four basic questions, but we will also provide individual attention to allow each camper to work through their personal response to those questions."

A Special Week
Spiritual growth takes place as students gain from general sessions, devotional times, small group meetings, and meeting new friends.

"I really liked the messages," said Jolie, who attended the 2010 Boot Camp week. "They were meaningful. They helped me learn more about self and about God."

"I made new friends, added Kelsey. "I tried not to let anyone be on the outskirts."
