Day of Prayer focuses on the Psalms

The Psalms will be a focus of this fall's Day of Prayer, a special time of encouragement for faculty, students, and staff. The prayer theme pairs with this year's Bible Conference, which carries the theme "Rediscovering the Psalms for Prayer and Praise."

No classes are held on the Day of Prayer, October 5. The Bible Conference runs October 4-8.

A special day
Chapel, held at 10 a.m. on October 5, features special speaker Doug Compton, pastor of Alpine Baptist Church in Comstock Park, MI. He is a graduate of BBC (74) and has spent much time studying the Psalms. Compton, who also serves as chaplain of the Grand Rapids Whitecaps minor league baseball team, will be speaking throughout the week as part of the Bible Conference.

After chapel, the students will participate in a "prayer walk," with small groups, praying with faculty and staff members around campus. Students and faculty will also be given the opportunity the week prior to Day of Prayer to write down specific prayer requests in the Phelps Student Center to be prayed for throughout the day and week.

A commitment to prayer
Each semester, BBC&S faculty, staff, and students devote a day to prayer. Having the day off from classes, students enjoy breakfast in their dorms, combined with a special time of prayer with their floors, suites, Resident Assistants, and Residence Directors.

Baptist Bible College & Seminary offers an outstanding Christian education through on-campus, online, and other distance learning options. Students go beyond the ordinary, learning to learn and serve with excellence as they gain critical leadership and life skills.
