Busy season ahead for BBC student athletes

Seven teams will compete for BBC this fall, with Defenders and Lady Defenders gearing up for men's and women's soccer, men's and women's cross-country, women's volleyball and tennis, and men's golf.

BBC is affiliated with the Colonial States Athletic Conference, NCAA Division III, and the National Christian College Athletic Association. A rich athletic history includes 23 NCCAA national championships in six sports and appearances in six NCAA national tournaments.Baptist Bible College & Seminary

Defender Soccer
Coach John Jackson is looking forward to a new season with a mix of several new players after losing just two seniors. Though picked to finish ninth in the 10-team CSAC, the team is looking to rebound strongly and is hopeful for a great season.

The team's opener takes place at home against PSU-Altoona on Wednesday, September 1 at 2 p.m.

Lady Defender Soccer
After graduating eight seniors last year and having only 15 girls on the team, Lady Defenders Coach Chris Davis is optimistic about the upcoming season. Finishing last season with a loss in the quarterfinals of the playoffs, the team is looking for an improvement and another trip to the conference playoffs in November.

The Lady Defenders' season opens at home on Wednesday, September 1 against Cazenovia College at 4 p.m.

Lady Defender Volleyball
The Lady Defenders have been chosen to finish fourth in the Colonial States Athletic Conference this year. After a semifinal loss against Cabrini College last year, the team is looking forward to another great season with more experience. They return all players from last year and add a few new ones.

Coach Dave Shumaker and the players are excited for the new season, which starts Wednesday, September 1 at 7 p.m., in Williamsport, PA, at Lycoming College. Baptist Bible College & Seminary

Defender Golf
The men's golf team is excited for the fall season this year. The team returns three veteran players in Noah Kellerman, Jacob Walton, and Nathan Greve. They are welcoming Luke Peterson and Jordan Greve, both freshmen.

The team opens the fall season of four tournaments Tuesday, September 28 in Reading, PA, against PSU Berks.

Defender Cross Country
The men's cross country team is hoping to pick up where they left off last season after several injuries. The team was picked to finish fifth in the CSAC Preseason Coaches' Poll.

The Defenders' season starts Saturday, September 4, in the Gwynedd-Mercy College Invitational at Gwynedd Valley, PA.

Lady Defender Cross Country
Former runner and first year Head Coach Julee Fenstermacher will bring a passion for running into the 2010 season for the Lady Defenders' Cross Country team. They are excited about the freshman who have joined this year and are looking forward to a great season.

The women also open the season at the Gwynedd-Mercy College Invitational on Saturday, September 4.

Lady Defender Tennis
The women's tennis team returns all of its starting players from last year and adds a couple new faces. They are looking forward to the new season as they build on the year of experience. Coaches Josh and Kelly Arp are excited about the team and they hope to improve from last year's young team.

The Lady Defenders' season starts on the road on Wednesday, September 1 at Philadelphia Biblical University.
