BBC&S names new Vice President for Institutional Advancement

Don Patten, a veteran in business leadership and development, has been named Vice President for Institutional Advancement at BBC&S.

In his new role, Don will lead and oversee advancement, which includes fundraising, special events, alumni, and church relations. He and his wife, Nancy, will relocate to Northeastern Pennsylvania from Grand Rapids, MI.Don Patten

Don will begin work in late August. Nancy, an RN for 27 years who will serve as school nurse at BBC&S, will start on campus once the couple moves to the area.

Don most recently worked in development for Beacon Hill, formerly Michigan Christian Home, a continuing care community for mature adults.

"We're thrilled," he said. "I'm most looking forward to visiting with people and sharing about Baptist Bible College & Seminary."

"I've been involved in three capital campaigns, including a $65 million project. Those are tremendous opportunities to build for the future."

President Jim Jeffery said Don's experience will be critical in the years ahead, with the $5.6 million Kempton Athletic Center under construction and more capital and building projects planned.

"I believe we have found in Don Patten someone who will serve well, who knows and understands our vision and mission, and who loves ministry," he said. "Nancy will also do a great job as a partner in Don's ministry and in her role as nurse on campus."

Don grew up attending Northland Baptist Church in Grand Rapids. He has been a member for nine years at North Park Baptist in Grand Rapids, where he has served as a deacon, discipler of teen and adult men, and with capital campaigns and building committees.

The Pattens will remain in the Grand Rapids area through BBC&S' September 17-18 "West Michigan Blitz." The two-day event includes the President's Golf Classic at Pilgrim's Run Golf Club on Friday and a time for the whole family at the West Michigan Whitecaps stadium on Saturday, with a barbecue buffet, lots of college football games, and gatherings with alumni, friends, parents, and high school students.
