Special President's Breakfast set for Community Appreciation Day

Area business and community leaders are invited to a breakfast at BBC&S on October 19, a special event featuring President Jim Jeffery and new women's basketball coach Amber Jacobs.

The breakfast begins at 7:45 a.m., and is held on Community Appreciation Day, a time when classes are cancelled to enable faculty, students, and staff to perform a range of local service projects.

Details on the breakfast are online at www.bbc.edu/presbreakfast. For questions or reservation information, call 570.585.9225 or email presbreakfast@bbc.edu.

Go Beyond
The annual President's Breakfast strengthens local connections with BBC&S.

The featured speaker this fall is Amber Jacobs, a former professional and collegiate basketball player who starred at Abington Heights High School near campus and spent many of her early years living at BBC&S.

Amber will describe her focus on helping develop young athletes' abilities and character, reaching out to the community, and returning to her roots in the area. She began her new position, which includes serving as assistant athletic director, in June.

President Jim Jeffery will share details of BBC&S' new "go beyond" campaign, progress on the new $4.5 million Kempton Athletic Center, and more.

Community Appreciation Day
Students, faculty, and staff each year assist in many local service projects. Teams work throughout the Scranton and Lackawanna County areas.

The goal is to show appreciation to the surrounding community through service. Several teams working local neighborhoods raking leaves and doing fall cleanup projects.

Other teams paint, clean, and perform many other needed services for area businesses and nonprofit organizations.

Baptist Bible College & Seminary offers an outstanding Christian education through on-campus, online, and other distance learning options. Students go beyond the ordinary, learning to learn and serve with excellence as they gain critical leadership and life skills.
