Special 'Celebration on the Summit' event set for October
Christian illusionist Harris III and 321 Improv Comedy are among the special guests at Baptist Bible College & Seminary's "Celebration on the Summit," a special week-long event that includes alumni and homecoming events and the annual Bible Conference.
The event is set for October 4-9 on the Clarks Summit, PA, campus. Schedules, details, ticket information, and more are online at www.bbc.edu/celebration.
Last year's Celebration event packed the BBC&S campus. The 2010 lineup brings back popular features, such as Friday night fireworks, and adds new activities -- from a Family Fun Run to a Pumpkin Chuckin' competition.
Alumni Day -- Friday, October 8
The day includes some unique offerings, including a stop on the "Mayhem & Misdirection" tour of nationally known illusionist Harris III and the 321 Improv Comedy group.
Harris III amazes audiences worldwide with his abilities of deception and illusion. His presentation of the gospel is powerful. 321 Improv Comedy members turn audience suggestions into hilarious scenes. The trio makes it a point to glorify God in all they do.
Tickets are $10 each. Go to the website to see video highlights from the tour and to purchase tickets online.
The special day also includes recognition of Alumni Awards and Athletic Hall of Honor recognition, an Alumni Meet & Greet event, and ends with a large on-campus fireworks display.
Homecoming & Family Day -- Saturday, October 9
Saturday mixes the best of past homecomings -- including Parents Day and Grandparents Day -- with a range of new events.
Activities include a three-mile Family Fun Run on the BBC course, a unique Pumpkin Chuckin' contest in the parking lot, and the traditional tent setups, with student dorms and organizations offering a mix of food and beverage tables.
Defenders and Lady Defenders soccer and volleyball games are also set, with special recognition of parents and presentation of the Homecoming Court featured.
Bible Conference -- Monday, October 4 to Friday, October 8
"Rediscovering the Psalms for Prayer and Praise" is the theme for this year's conference. Sessions run across the week at various times.
This special weeklong look into the Psalms enables those in attendance to rediscover truths that can be applied to their life as they serve and lead others.
Featured speakers include Doug Compton, pastor of Alpine Baptist Church in Comstock Park, MI, and Dr. Mark McGinniss, Associate Professor at Baptist Bible Seminary.
A special time on campus
Visitors will also see continuing progress on the Kempton Athletic Center, the $4.5 million facility now under construction.
Last year's event featured the groundbreaking for this special building. And the 2011 event promises to see the center open to students and the wider campus community.
Keep up with Kempton Athletic Center details at www.bbc.edu/kempton and the BBC&S Facebook page at www.facebook.com/BaptistBible.
