Leadership, finances among topics at special Men's Conference

More than 175 men attended the 2010 Men's Conference at Baptist Bible College, a unique weekend of learning and spiritual refreshment.

Carrying the theme "Issues and Inspiration," the May 14-15 event attracted pastors, laymen, and Christian leaders from six states.

Main sessions and workshops focused on topics ranging from leadership development and finances to time management, tackling temptation, and effective Bible study.

"This weekend is very beneficial," said Jay Riggleman, pastor of Bible Baptist Church of Sodus in New York. "It's an opportunity to get the guys together and the interaction is good. If you come once you are hooked."

The speaker for the main sessions was Pastor Pat Nemmers of Saylorville Baptist Church in Des Moines, IA. Pastor Nemmers is a popular chapel speaker among BBC students and a member of the BBC Board of Trustees.

"Each issue that Pastor Nemmers selected was right on, especially his session on Hell," said Dr. Don McCall, professor of Pastoral Ministries at BBC. "Many men commented on how that message alone has opened their eyes to both the necessity and urgency in reaching individuals for Christ."

The 2011 Men's Conference will be held next year on May 13-14. The guest speaker will be Pastor Ron Berrus of Bible Baptist Church in Shiremanstown, PA.

In addition to sessions and workshops; men participated in activities including basketball and volleyball tournaments. Free time was spent in the Underground Cafe, Byrdies, the Campus Bookstore and the gymnasium.

A special offering taken each year to assist a student in the Pastoral Ministries program at BBC totaled nearly $1,400.
