Seminary Dean authors new commentary on I and II Thessalonians
Baptist Bible Seminary Dean Dr. Michael Stallard has written a commentary on I and II Thessalonians, part of a series of books by traditional dispensationalists.
"The Books of First and Second Thessalonians: Looking for Christ's Return," is an expositional commentary. It will be of help to everyone from pastors and scholars to small group leaders and those doing individual study.
The book is published by AMG Publishers and is part of the 21st Century Commentary Series. The book is available here.
"I hope pastors and laymen can see that the traditional dispensational viewpoint of these books is credible and that the argument of the books can clearly be traced," Dr. Stallard said.
Dr. Stallard's other published works include "The Early Twentieth-Century Dispensationalism of Arno C. Gaebelein," articles for many Christian publications, and adult Bible study materials. This commentary project took him about three years to complete.
In addition to his role as Seminary Dean, Dr. Stallard also serves as Professor of Systematic Theology and Director of the Ph. D. program. He organized both the first and second annual Council on Dispensational Hermeneutics at BBS.

Dr. Stallard's future writing plans include books coming out of the Council on Dispensational Hermeneutics and a project on the history of dispensationalism.
Dispensationalism holds to historical-grammatical principles of interpreting the Bible, including prophecy. It views scripture as literal unless strong textual evidence suggests otherwise.
The council meetings have served to add academic weight and credibility to the effort at keeping objective interpretation of scripture at the forefront of modern biblical presentation in churches and academia. The next council is planned for September 22-23, 2010.
Dr. Stallard has served at Baptist Bible Seminary since 1994. He is the founding pastor of New Life Baptist Church in Scranton, PA, and currently serves on its pastoral team.
