Summer Crew offers students unique ministry

This summer a select group of BBC students will take advantage of a special opportunity for service and ministry by staying and working on campus.

The members of Summer Crew were selected from 18 student applicants. They will work from 45 to 70 hours per week cleaning and maintaining residence halls and the campus for camps and conferences throughout the summer.

Crew members keep things running smoothly by setting up chairs, fulfilling maintenance responsibilities, working at the Underground Cafe and performing many other tasks behind the scenes. Members benefit through the work they will be performing and gain personally from the relationships they build with each other.

The five members of Summer Crew 2009 are:

Jake Kallman - Crew Leader
Jake is from Grandville, MI. He is a junior in the Youth Pastor program and plans to attend seminary. He is looking forward to gaining useful skills through the different jobs he will be doing over the summer.

Jessica DeLong
Jessica considers Alaska to be her home. She is a junior in the Elementary Education program and is looking forward to student teaching next spring. She is excited to face the challenges the summer will bring with the other students on the crew.

Ian Kearns
Ian is a sophomore in the Pastoral Ministries program. After graduation he hopes to become part of a missions organization involved in getting people into the mission field. This summer, he his striving to gain a knowledge of what it means to be a true servant.

Sharonda Spellman
Sharonda is a junior in the Camping Ministries program. Her home is in Chesapeake, VA. She is looking forward to working with the other members of crew and getting to know everyone better. She is also hoping to get to know some of the BBC families on campus. Her long-term goals are to work at a camp and with troubled teens.

Caleb Byron
Caleb is from Benton, ME. He is in the Youth Pastor program. His goals for the summer are to earn money for school, add more work experience to his resume while working for the Lord, and have fun working with other BBC students and staff members.
