President Jim JefferyJim Jeffery became President of Baptist Bible College & Seminary on August 1, 2001. He served on the Board of Trustees for 11 years prior to his appointment, including three years as chairman.

Life and Ministry
Jim soon began to outline his personal vision and mission for the College and Seminary. The phrase that best summarizes this is Excellence in Biblical Higher Education for Effectiveness in Global Christian Leadership. A servant's heart and desire to serve God with humility and excellence have characterized Jim's life and ministry. His fervent desire is that he walk humbly with God.

As a gifted communicator with a heart to encourage and disciple, Jim's ministry is both powerful and personal. God has used his wisdom and authenticity to change lives in pastoral ministry as well as student lives at BBC&S.

Education and Pastorate
President Jeffery is an alumnus of BBC, earning his Bachelor of Religious Education degree in 1979. He is also a graduate of Practical Bible College (now Davis), earned a Master of Religious Education in Pastoral Ministry degree at Grand Rapids Baptist Seminary, and has done doctoral studies at Grand Rapids Baptist Seminary and Grace Seminary. President Jeffery was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Divinity degree by Shepherds Seminary in Cary, North Carolina, in 2005.

Ordained into the Baptist ministry in October 1978 by Grace Baptist Church in Binghamton, NY, he served as a Baptist pastor for 26 years, including ministries at Grace Baptist Church in Binghamton, NY; Calvary Baptist Church in Sandusky, OH; and Lakewood Park Baptist Church in Auburn, IN. Most recently, he was pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in Grand Rapids, MI.

Family and Wider Service
Jim married his high school sweetheart, Alberta "Bert" Dart, in 1973. They have three children, Daniel, Amy, and Rachel, three children-in-law, and eleven grandchildren.

Jim was born in Connecticut, but he calls upstate New York home. He has served on the boards of Baptist Mid-Missions, Camp Patmos, and Ohio, Indiana, and Michigan state pastors’ fellowships.
