Definitions

Full-Time
The definition of "full time” varies depending upon your graduate program. The following shows the number of credits per semester required to be full time in each program. Credits can be spread over one or more sessions of three credits each within any given semester.

M.S. in Christian School Education = Six credits per semester.
M.S. in Counseling Ministries = Six credits per semester.
Masters of Arts = Six credits per semester.

Semester
A “semester” is defined by the school as the following periods of enrollment:

Fall = Any classes taken from August through December.
Spring = Any classes taken from January through May.
Summer = Any classes taken from May through August.

Semesters may be made up of one or more online sessions.

If you have any questions about whether you are full time in any given semester, please contact Student Financial Services.

Federal Work Study

Federal Work Study is available on a limited basis. The priority deadline for applying is May 1.

An application for Federal Work Study begins by you, the student, filing the FAFSA , or Free Application For Federal Student Aid.

The second step in applying for Federal Work Study is to submit an application form for Student Financial Services to review. The application form is available here.

Loans

A student loan is an award of financial aid for which the lender will have to be paid back. Some loans are subsidized, meaning the federal government pays the interest that accrues on the loan from the date of disbursement until six months after the student leaves school or graduates. Other loans are unsubsidized, meaning you will be responsible to pay all interest that accrues on the loan from the date of disbursement until it is paid in full.

You may need to carefully consider taking out a loan to help pay the costs of your education. View the Baptist Bible Lending Code of Conduct here.

Federal Direct Stafford Loan

The amount of Stafford Loan money a student may receive in a year depends on FAFSA results and the cost of attendance (based on enrollment status, such as full-time vs. half-time).

The base amount for which you are eligible in a given academic year may include either or both subsidized and unsubsidized amounts, depending on your calculated need.

Stafford Loans are subject to a 0.5% origination fee. The amount of money actually received by BBC and disbursed to your account will be .5% less than the amount borrowed. For example, if you borrow a Stafford Loan in the amount of $5,000, the actual amount disbursed to your account would be $4,975.
